The Major League is the highest Patriam football-league.
History[]
The Major League was created in 2010 to accommodate the increasing number of professional teams in Patriam. In 2010, to start "filling" the Major League, a different promotion/relegation scheme was used: six teams were promoted from the 2009-10 Premier League and none were relegated, six teams were promoted from the 2009-10 First League and none were relegated, with corresponding systems at the lower levels. As a result, the 2010-11 Major League had six teams. This scheme was repeated again in 2011, giving the 2011-12 Major League twelve teams. From then on, the normal promotion/relegation schemes were resumed (in the professional leagues, two promoted and two relegated, etc.).
